Setup

Gather only common or recycled items needed to build the ramp using a board propped on stacked books, adjusting the surface with tape for a smooth ride. Place the materials beside a simple recording sheet or blank paper, and prepare the Rescue Ramp Patrol challenge in one working area; no digital device is needed.

Activity

  1. Set up a ramp at a low height and predict how fast or gently a toy patient will slide down.
  2. Build the ramp using a board propped on stacked books, adjusting the surface with tape for a smooth ride.
  3. Test different heights, discovering the toy patient flies off the end at the tallest height, then lower the ramp until it lands gently.
  4. Run a full rescue mission delivering several toy patients safely down the ramp and explain which height worked best.

Done when: The learner completes Rescue Ramp Patrol after carrying out this core test: Test different heights, discovering the toy patient flies off the end at the tallest height, then lower the ramp until it lands gently. The learner then uses that result to complete the final task: Run a full rescue mission delivering several toy patients safely down the ramp and explain which height worked best.
