Setup

Gather only common or recycled items needed to measure each furniture piece using blocks or a ruler and sketch a room layout on graph paper. Place the materials beside a simple recording sheet or blank paper, and prepare the Mouse House Moving Day challenge in one working area; no digital device is needed.

Activity

  1. Look at a tiny mouse's shoebox house and imagine planning where furniture should go on moving day.
  2. Measure each furniture piece using blocks or a ruler and sketch a room layout on graph paper.
  3. Arrange the actual furniture in the box, discovering the bed and table both need the same corner, so one piece is measured again and moved to fit.
  4. Give the mouse family a tour of their newly arranged home, pointing out the measurements that made everything fit.
