Setup

Gather grid paper, plant cards, sample pots and clear a small work surface. Read the Community Garden Planners mission aloud, then place the supplies where children can choose and compare them safely.

Activity

  1. Predict how much space, sunlight, and water each plant will need in the garden.
  2. Design a garden layout on grid paper, allocating space for plants, sunlight, and walking pathways.
  3. Test the plan with sample pots and discover two plants both need the same sunny spot, then rearrange the layout.
  4. Present the final garden blueprint to the town council, explaining how every plant's needs are met.
