Setup

Gather colored water, droppers, clear cups and clear a small work surface. Read the Color-Mixing Potion Shop mission aloud, then place the supplies where children can choose and compare them safely.

Activity

  1. Look at a potion order card requesting a specific color, like purple or orange, and predict which two colors might combine to make it.
  2. Measure and mix small amounts of colored water or paint using droppers or spoons to fill the order.
  3. Compare the mixed potion to the order card, discovering it came out too dark, then add a bit more water or a lighter color to fix the shade.
  4. Deliver the finished potion to the customer and explain which colors and amounts were used to make it.
