Setup

Gather toy dinosaurs, plastic eggs, shredded paper and clear a small work surface. Read the Baby Dinosaur Nursery mission aloud, then place the supplies where children can choose and compare them safely.

Activity

  1. Look closely at toy dinosaurs and talk about what a baby dinosaur might need to stay warm, safe, and fed in its nest.
  2. Build a nest using twigs, shredded paper, and other soft materials, tucking the pretend eggs or baby dinosaurs snugly inside.
  3. Test the nest by gently rolling a small ball nearby to make a pretend wind or tipping the box slightly, and rebuild any part that lets an egg roll out.
  4. Present the finished nursery to family or friends, explaining what each material does and why the babies will be safe there.
