Grades 3-560-75 minSource: Creative Dad Company

Kids plan delivery routes for a pretend drone fleet, factoring in payload weight, battery life, and changing weather, then test whether their routes actually get every package delivered on time. It's logistics and physics working together in a fast-paced planning game.

Setup

Place common or recycled supplies for Delivery Drone Route Desk on one work surface and choose a safe area for the test. Read the four activity directions aloud; drawings, paper models, and household substitutes may replace specialized materials, and no digital tool is required.

Activity

  1. Review the map, package weights, and battery limits, then predict which delivery route will finish before the battery runs out.
  2. Build the planned route on the floor map and load the package cards onto the drone in the planned order.
  3. Test the route with a timed run, then redesign the route or delivery order when a surprise weather card slows the drone or the battery runs out early.
  4. Present the final route plan to the logistics team, explaining how it handled weight, weather, and battery limits.

Done when: The group produces the Delivery Drone Route Desk solution, completes the described test, makes the revision called for by the evidence, and supports its final explanation with an observed or measured result.
