Lunar Greenhouse Crew
Log in to saveKids grow seedlings under tight limits on water, light, and space to figure out how to keep a lunar colony fed with minimal resources. It's a hands-on plant-science challenge with real numbers and real trade-offs to manage.

Setup
Place common or recycled supplies for Lunar Greenhouse Crew on one work surface and choose a safe area for the test. Read the four activity directions aloud; drawings, paper models, and household substitutes may replace specialized materials, and no digital tool is required.
Activity
- Review the tight water, light, and space limits and predict how many seedlings can actually be grown successfully under those constraints.
- Build the planting setup, dividing the limited resources across the seedling trays according to the plan.
- Test the plan over several days of tracked growth, then adjust the water or light allocation when some seedlings wilt or grow too slowly.
- Present the final growth data to the colony council, explaining which resource decisions kept the most plants alive.
Done when: The group produces the Lunar Greenhouse Crew solution, completes the described test, makes the revision called for by the evidence, and supports its final explanation with an observed or measured result.
Materials
fast-growing seed packets, small seedling trays, potting soil, measuring cup for water rationing, a mini grow light or sunny window, chart for tracking growth

Support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water.
