Setup
Gather seeds, clear cups or bags, paper towels and clear a small work surface. Read the Little Seed Hospital mission aloud, then place the supplies where children can choose and compare them safely.
Activity
- Examine a few sprouting seeds and a few dry-looking seeds, predicting what each one might be missing.
- Set up small seed patients in damp paper-towel beds inside cups or bags, giving each one a different amount of light or water.
- Check the seeds daily and notice one patient is getting moldy from too much water, then adjust its care by drying it out slightly.
- Report to the seed hospital board which patients recovered and what they needed to grow strong.
